Hey there -- it looks like you've done some nice 3D work there!

My first thought was regarding the span of the desktop because I don't see any support structure holding it up in back. An 88 key controller on or under a span that long could cause some serious sagging problems -- especially with the notch cut into it for the monitor... Did you consider this in your design?

Also if you're going to put the controller under the desk, be sure the desk is high enough to work with. A typical desktop is about 30" high, but the keys of a piano are typically a lot lower, so it does make sense to have the controller under the desk -- just be sure you have enough room for your knees under there, too. :)

I've never had monitors positioned vertically. I have three all side-by-side and that works out pretty well for me. It seems like it's easier to move my head side to side then up and down. (Maybe I'm just used to saying "no" more than "yes" ) It does look cool, though.

Hi and welcome.

To continue from Alex's critique, I see the following issues:
  • A lot of wasted corner space - by allowing the surface to go back into the corner you can put in the structural support that Alex has identified. This would also let you add a a tier of shelves (2 levels might be good) for holding things like displays/monitors, pens, pencils, ref manuals, other books, graphics tablet, mastering deck, what have you.
  • I find that when the screens are too close, I can't focus on them. Having them at a good focal distance will help in your work-flow, because you won't constantly be adjusting your physical position to see what is on the screen.
  • As for monitors arranged in an array as you describe, no experience, but the thoughts behind your array make sense from a work-flow point of view - I'm looking at either
    • expanding my monitor numbers, so would be interested in any experience feedback you can provide in a little while, or
    • getting a large screen display (32"+) to have a as larger all-in-one visual work-space
just some thoughts

So what's a bandcoach - a bus that carries a band?
Nah, instead of teaching band, I coach it, sort of like a football coach!
