Maple entry table

We like to build stuff. Lots of stuff. So here's a place for threads on other DIY projects and tutorials -- not just studio or music-related gear -- but just about anything else you're building yourself... Anything from gardens to wine racks, and wave division multiplexers to toys-for-tots!

Maple entry table

LOML wanted a table with a drawer in a little nook for our entry way. I just have some finish sanding to do and then finish, but it's pretty much assembled (except for the hardware). I should have sharpened my chisels before trying the dovetails -- they're very rough, but it gives them charm, I think. Except for the table top, it's all recycled maple.

Thanks, man. I'm actually going to be taking a class in dovetail joinery with Roy Underhill (made famous here in the USA with his long-running show The Woodwright's Shop on PBS) later this month. I'm hoping to get some tips and practice to make these things go a bit smoother next time around. His school is opening up just down the road from me a bit, so it's a nice opportunity for me. Here's an article about it with some pictures: http://blog.woodworking-magazine.com/bl ... chool.aspx

BTW, for the table I used floating tenons all around -- that always seems to work out pretty well.

Wow, it really looks gorgeous but I think you need to put some varnish on it to looks shine and new or you can apply paint on it.
